Another fun read by Roald Dahl, The Witches, although similar in plot to The BFG, stands on its own with its own surprises and story twists.

The main character, a boy who lives with this grandmamma, is told many stories about witches and their evil deeds, particularly concerning children. It seems that witches are not only not fond of children but are trying to get rid of all of them, one child at a time.

A grand convention of witches brings our young hero face-to-face with all the witches in England. Together with his grandmamma, our hero, who has been transformed into a mouse, is able to stop their grand plan and use their evil potion against them all.

More than likely I will go through the Roald Dahl catalog of books and read each one, which includes books for adults as well. He never fails to entertain and surprise with this fun, and a little bit twisted, sense of humor.

I rate "The Witches" 5 out of 5 stars.
