Parents and Grandparents.....

Here you will find book reviews for Tweens, ages 8-12. The goal here is to introduce you to books that would be appropriate for kids who are between 8 and 12 and who love to read. Since I tend to look for books that are Newbury and Caldicott winners, most of the books I've read tend to be gems. But there are also some that were suggested to me by others who enjoy a good kids' book, too! If you enjoy these books, don't hesitate to send me an email and let me know! Or suggest books for me to read before you purchase it and I will review it for you. Thanks!

Regal Turkey Vulture

A Wrinkle in Time by Madelyn L'Engle is a Newbury award winner that has been on my list for quite sometime and I'm glad I finally took the time to read it. There has been much praise for this book over the years and I just heard that there are plans to make it into a movie (it was made into a TV movie in 2003).

Striking Sunset Painting by DJ Geribo

Midnight Magic by Avi was another fun book to read. After reading a couple of books by Avi where the main characters are mice or insects, it was a delightful surprise to read one that was about a boy, who was a magician, his master, a princess, and her parents the king and queen of Pergamontia. The story wouldn't be as intriguing, of course, without a bad guy, and there is one in the guise of the assumed trusted Count Scarazoni.
