I’m really beginning to like Barbara Kingsolver. After reading ‘The Bean Trees’, I needed something else of a similar quality and knew I would get it from another Kingsolver novel. This collection of stories, individual in their telling but with a similar slant, the underserved, the downtrodden, the poor and misunderstood, was right up my alley. These are also the characters I want to shine a light on in my story-telling.

Family and friends, each story telling what people do for love, to give or take, and those doing only for their own greedy desires, using others to get what they want with no consideration for feelings.

A wonderfully emotionally-charged collection of stories, Barbara Kingsolver is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I think it is time to take on “The Poisonwood Bible’, a 1999 Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Literature.

I rate “Homeland” 4 out of 5 stars
