My first exposure to Lilian Jackson Braun, "The Cat Who Had 14 Tales" is a collection of short stories where a cat, or two, plays the main role.

The 14 tales of mystery are short and sweet, a couple are even sad. But in the end justice prevails and all because the cats, wise in their feline-ness, are able to communicate to their owners the solution. Only they know who is guilty and even when they don't somehow the guilty one is caught. Nice clean solutions to the mysteries.

Although there was no real depth to the stories there certainly was entertainment. And sometimes that's all we need.

I rate "The Cat Who Had 14 Tales" 3 out of 5 stars.
