I've previously read David Sedaris (Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk) and thoroughly enjoyed his work. For me, his humor ranges from the slightest smile, a smirk almost, to a laugh out loud reaction. And "Naked", as his past writings have done for me, were especially distasteful in their ordinariness.

His experiences which brought him virtually into the sewers of any small town USA, and you are right there with him, were more revealing than if you actually walked with and lived among these people, which incidentally, he did. Seeing this side of life as many of us have never seen, opened my eyes to my own naivety about the underbelly existence of a certain population. The uneducated, the bizarre, the deviant, the fanatics among us were the stars of his novel. Many of these included his own family members.

Mr. Sedaris walked the talk and then recorded the results for our reading pleasure.

I rate "Naked" 3.5 out of 5 stars.
